"Alhamdulillah today we distribute the PPE for grave diggers and its caretakers and coverall suits for firefighters and grave diggers," disclosed Jakarta Baznas Bazis Chairman, Lutfi Fathullah, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Jakarta COVID-19 Handling Task Force II Chairman Catur Laswanti expressed his appreciation and grateful for the support in curbing COVID-19 in Jakarta.

"This is very important for us, as our men who conduct the funeral also have a high risk of being infected. Moreover the death cases continue to increase nowadays. That's why we really need to ensure their safety from this deadly virus while on duty," he explained.

Besides COVID-19 victims, the funeral procedures also imposed on individuals being monitored (ODP) and patients under treatment (PDP). "The corpse must be wrapped in a plastic that is not transparent (water-resistant), then put into a coffin and must be buried immediately (no more than four hours)," he explained.

Then Jakarta Park and City Urban Agency Head Suzi Marsitawati uttered, as of Monday (4/6) at 12.30 PM, as many as 639 bodies had been buried.

"We received bodies infected with COVID-19 that have been through protap and SOP. That is the body must use a body bag, then put in a coffin. So this is what we do. So we can't sort out which bodies are positive for COVID-19 or ODP-PDP, but the hospital," she explained.

She also mentioned two lands used for burial bodies that had passed the COVID-19 screening procedure were Pondok Ranggon TPU (East Jakarta) and Tegal Alur TPU (West Jakarta).
